According to askcaptainlim.com, pilots with rank of captain at Singapore Airlines earn a basic monthly salary of at least RM25,000 for a Boeing 747-400 and a maximum of more than RM32,000 for an Airbus A380.
The lowest ranking pilot is Second Officer, earning a minimum of around RM4,500 per month and it can go up to more than RM8,000 per month.
A First Officer earns a a minimum of around RM9,800 per month, and it can go up to a maximum of more than RM23,000 per month.
These figures are definitely in the upper ranges of income among South East Asians; so kids, this is one to aim for, sure beats doing cable ties doesn’t it?

This makes the Malaysian winnings record look like a schoolkid’s pocket money.
In May 2009, a 25-year-old Spanish woman from Majorca won the equivalent of more than RM600 million at the EuroMillions lottery.
Her initial reactions were “shock” and “incredible emotion”, then “a countless stream of questions.” Perhaps it’s appropriate to add that steam cleaners were needed to clear up the aftermath.
She was the only winner, hence bagging the largest ever jackpot to have been won by a single ticket holder in European history. The amount is probably a world record amount payable in a single lump sum for a single ticket winner.
That said, the chances of winning it is probably smaller than being struck by a meteor several times over.

It was reported in Forbes in October that Tiger Woods is the first ever athlete to earn USD1 billion (that’s more than RM3 billion!).
He’s been the highest-paid American athlete in years: not even basketball legend Michael “Air” Jordan or seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher could get close.
Yes, he’s the first 10-figure sports earner.
Apart from championship purses, the money also rolls in through other channels: appearance fees, endorsements, bonuses, even perhaps doing promotional tote bags, and last but not least, golf course design.
His off the course so far in 2009 is more than USD100 million, much much more than mere tournament prizemoney.
And he’s only 33, he’s good for at least another 15 years on the greens and probably double that at designing courses.
Several more billion dollars is in the works.

It was reported by Forbes back in March 2009 that even the super rich are suffering from the current recession too, losing amounts that could feed entire countries.
A staggering 300 billionaires have lost the right to use the title, becoming lowly millionaires.
There are now only 793 (US dollar) billionaires, the least since 2003.
Bill Gates, the world’s richest man have lost USD18 billion.
Perennial number two, Warren Buffet have lost an incredible USD25 billion: that’s about the same as the GDP of Nigeria in 2008!
However, the biggest loser is Anil Ambani, the Indian businessman, and I am not talking about Lipofuze-induced weight loss here. He lost a mind-blowing USD31.9 billion.
Crazy.

It was reported in the BBC in February 2009 that there’s a high-class escort agency in the West Midlands, with female, as well as male clients.
The male escorts host “in-calls” for female clients at “a large country cottage that looks like a French chalet, three quarters of a mile away from the nearest town.” The charge? Around GBP60 per hour.
But in London top straight guy escorts make *at least* GBP100 per hour, and very often more than that.
Whew, these guys could afford to go for the best acne treatment on that kind of income!

It was reported by The Star on 6th December 2009 that the son of the Sultan of Selangor (Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah), Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, 19 said that he receives a monthly allowance of RM13,000.
Probably very few teenagers get that much allowance per month, surely will buy a lot of rack mounts.
Further, in the newsreport, he reportedly donated RM10K towards the Raja Muda of Selangor FounĀdation, leaving him with RM3K for the month.

It was reported back in March 2009 that Ken Karpman, an MBA from UCLA was a CEO of his own hedge fund, earning USD750K per year. Then the recession struck, he went bankrupt and to make ends meet was forced to work delivering pizzas for Mike’s Deli & Pizzeria at USD7.29 per hour.

He lost more than USD500K of his own money during the credit crisis.
Another job he considered (and failed to get) before his current job is tending a bar. He could also have considered selling micro sd cards at the local electronics store.
So you can say he’s the most overqualified pizza delivery man ever.
To his credit, Karpman is reportedly “fairly positive about his new position and looks to it as more of a growing process,” even though he sometimes finds himself in awkward positions: delivering pizza to former employees.
